Five of Wands Meaning
Five of Wands Upright and Reversed in the Rider Waite Smith Deck of Tarot Cards
In the 5 of Wands card in the Rider Waite Smith deck of Tarot cards, you can see a group of people are battling with wands. The closest one, dressed in the light blue, seems to be holding the others off with very little effort and seems to be barely involved in the battling.
Meaning of the 5 of Wands Upright
There are battles doing on and tempers may be getting frayed. There seems to be a lot of aggression directed at you. However, by dealing calmly with the actual issues, rather than attacking the people concerned, you can find a solution.
It is important not to get drawn into office or family politics and only to deal with the facts of the matter. If there are battles going on around you, do you need to be involved in all of it or can you just deal with the bit that directly affects you?
This is a card of pettiness, squabbling, back-biting and often tiresome disagreements.
You probably need to put up some boundaries between yourself and the source of the bickering. It is better if you can distance yourself from it. It is important that you do not allow yourself to be drawn into fighting someone else's battle for them, only to find that they have neatly sidestepped out of the way, so that everyone else now views you as the source of the problem. Be careful of people who are trying to unnecessarily prolong disagreements for their own reasons.
This is also a card of blockages, annoyances, frustrations and things not going as you would like them to. There is no agreement or co- operation with this card. They may even be someone who is getting a rather perverse enjoyment out of seeing everyone else squabbling and arguing.
Meaning of the 5 of Wands Reversed
In the 5 of Wands in the reversed position, you now see a much more entangled collection of sticks and humans. The disagreements are much worse than in the upright position. There is real aggression in the fighting and the attacks seem to be much more personally directed at the people, rather than arguments over issues.
Nobody is giving way. The people seem to be using a challenge or a problem, where they are all involved - or are involving themselves - to really air their personal grievances against each other. The matter has degenerated into a free-for-all fight where no-one really knows what the actual is and no-one has any interest in resolving the conflict.
